The Vinted algorithm

The top of Vinted's published order is the buyer's own filters.

Vinted publishes a help page naming the parameters its recommender systems use to pick and rank what a member sees. Cavri counted 15 of them there on 3 September 2026. The surprises are inside the list rather than missing from it: listing frequency is named, seller type is named, and so are the browsing history and the following list of whoever happens to be looking. The table below carries every one, in Vinted's own words, with what Vinted says each does.

The same page then says which of them matter most, and that section is the one worth reading before you rearrange anything. The filters a member applies and the filters Vinted's own system applies come first. Promoted content is also important. Item attractiveness comes next, and personalisation after that. Four groups in an order is not a weighting: nothing is published about how much recency beats price, there is no order inside any group, and Vinted adds that the priorities can vary. So a ranked list of seven Vinted ranking factors is the ranking of whoever wrote it.

Cavri is inventory software for Vinted sellers, and it touches five of the parameters: the price, the condition, the category (one part of what Vinted calls item ontology), the words in the description, and the upload date, which moves only when an item is relisted. It cannot change brand, size or colour in bulk, and it never buys a promotion. This page is what Vinted publishes, what is asserted without a source, and how to tell the two apart on the next claim you meet.

The sold export: what each item cost, what it fetched, and the date
01 / Published

The list has been on Vinted's help centre the whole time

One page names every parameter, explains most of them in a line each, and then names which groups matter most. It is short and it is public. Almost nothing written about the Vinted algorithm quotes it.

02 / Order

The most important factor is not yours to set

At the top Vinted puts the filters a member applies and the filters its own system applies, such as limiting results to items that can be shipped to that member. Both describe the person looking. Two wardrobes with identical listings do not get identical results, and a screenshot of somebody else's feed settles nothing.

03 / Explained

The two parameters the folklore gets wrong are both explained

Listing frequency is not left blank: Vinted says it applies when sellers upload a number of items within a specific timeframe, and that those items are shown to buyers in a proportionate way. Seller type is regular user or Pro Seller. Neither explanation says anything about five items in thirty days, and neither reads like a reward for volume.

Checking a Vinted algorithm claim in about two minutes

Four questions, in this order. Most of what circulates fails at the second one.

  1. Is the input even named, Read the claim against the table below. If it rests on something that is not in it, on how fast you reply to messages, on how many items your wardrobe holds, or on the day of the week, then the writer has added an input Vinted has not.
  2. Is a weight claimed, Nothing published says how much recency beats price, or where condition sits against a description. So any sentence of the form this one matters most, and any numbered list of factors in order of importance, is the author's ordering rather than Vinted's.
  3. Is a date claimed, Vinted publishes no version history for its ranking, so a claim that it changed in a given year has nothing a reader can open. Ask for the link before you rearrange a wardrobe around it.
  4. Then test it on your own wardrobe, Change one thing across a set of your own items, leave a comparable set alone, and read what sold and how long each took. One item settles nothing in either direction. You need a set on each side, and how to measure that honestly is a subject with a page of its own.

None of that proves a claim false. It sorts claims into the ones with a source behind them and the ones without, which is the most anybody outside Vinted can honestly do.

Every parameter Vinted names, and who it is about

One row per parameter, in the order Vinted lists them. The first two columns are Vinted's: the name as published, and Vinted's own explanation, condensed where the original runs to a clause. The third column is Cavri's reading and not Vinted's.

What Vinted namesWhat Vinted says it doesWhether it is yours to change
Time since item uploadHelps evaluate the chances of an item being sold.Yours. It is the one a relist moves, and a relist costs you something.
Number of interactions an item has already collected (including impressions, favourites, clicks)The previous level of interest in the item, and how likely it is to sell. It counts logged-out visitors too.Not yours to set. It accumulates on its own, and Cavri stores no count of it.
Item and buyer location countryMakes sure items can actually be bought, without shipping or other logistical restrictions. The seller's country is used as well.Half yours at best. You cannot move the buyer.
Item lister and buyer preferred languageShows items to members in their preferred language, to make the recommendation more relevant. Not yours. It is one reason a quiet week can have nothing to do with anything you did.
Item priceAims to recommend better deals, so the price is used to decide relevance.Yours, and Vinted names it twice: here, and again inside item attractiveness.
Item ontologyThe category, brand, size, colour, listing photos and other attributes that define what an item is.Yours, and the most skipped. An item filed in the wrong category is missing from the filters a buyer applied, whatever it costs.
Item conditionShows items in the appropriate condition, based on buyers' preferences.Yours, and it should be accurate rather than optimistic, because the other end of it is a dispute.
Listing frequencyUsed when sellers upload a number of items within a specific timeframe, showing those items to buyers in a proportionate way.Yours. Proportionate is Vinted's word, and it does not read like a reward for volume.
Seller typeWhether the seller is a regular user or a Pro Seller, in markets where Vinted Pro exists.Yours only if you switch, and switching changes your obligations rather than a label.
Expressed filters and search querySearch only. Shows the items matching the intent the member actually expressed. Not yours, and Vinted puts it in the most important group of all.
Item descriptionsUsed to judge how relevant an item is to the search query.Yours, and the cheapest of the lot to fix.
Illegal contentVinted's measures against illegal content may affect the visibility of members' legitimate listings. Not yours, and the nearest thing to suppression Vinted publishes. It is stated as a side effect of enforcement, not as a penalty.
Image resemblanceUsed when a buyer searches by image, to show items that look like the one uploaded.Yours, through the photographs you take. Cavri copies them on a relist and never edits one.
User historyPromotes a new member's listings to people who have seen or bought similar items in the past. Not yours, and not visible to you.
User's following listSorts items by the members a given user follows. Not yours. You can be followed; you cannot pick who follows.

Vinted then names which of these matter most, in its own order: the filters a member applies and the filters its system applies, then promoted content such as new listings and paid Showcase and Bump placements, then “item attractiveness criteria (such as recency, the number of interactions, price, and condition)”, then personalisation from past activity. It adds that these priorities can vary depending on the use case. Promoted content is the one input Vinted names outright as something a seller can buy, and Cavri never buys one for you.

What is not published, and what Cavri cannot see

No changelog, and no notice when the wording moves. Vinted publishes no version history for its ranking, so nothing here can be dated to anything sturdier than the day the page was read. That was 3 September 2026. If the help page has been rewritten since, the link in the sources below is how you find out, and this page is the one that is wrong.

And nothing Cavri can measure. Cavri acts on five of these parameters and sees the score of none of them: no impressions, no favourites, no clicks, no search position, no view of where an item sits in anybody's feed. What it holds is what sold, what it sold for and how many days that took. That is a much smaller claim than most pages on this subject make, and it is one you can check against your own account.

What this page cannot do

  • It cannot rank the parameters past the order Vinted itself gives, which stops at four groups. A page that goes further is inventing the only part that would have been useful.
  • It is not Vinted's page, and Vinted can rewrite that wording whenever it likes.
  • It does not price Vinted's paid promotion. Bump and Showcase cost different amounts in different markets and the figures move, so they are not printed here.
  • Cavri never buys promotion for you. The one thing it does that moves a named parameter's clock is a relist, which is a fresh listing plus a deletion of the old one, so the item gets a new date and loses its likes. What that costs in full is set out on the relisting tool page rather than summarised here.
  • It cannot say why one specific item is quiet: the parameters Vinted names as most important describe the person looking, and neither you nor Cavri ever sees those.

Where Vinted says this, and when it was checked

Cavri does not restate these. The wording in them is Vinted's and it moves, so this page describes the shape of what is published and sends you to the copy Vinted maintains. Both pages were read on 3 September 2026.

  • Recommended content on Vinted, Vinted's own list of the parameters behind the feed and search, its explanation of each, and the section naming which groups matter most. Every claim above is checked against this page
  • Selling your items faster, Vinted's own advice, which names a bundle discount, Bump and Showcase, offers to people who favourited an item, uploading regularly, photos and descriptions, profile verification and shipping options, and never mentions relisting
  • Vinted Pro seller guide, what the seller type parameter distinguishes between, in Vinted's framing of it: a regular user or a Pro Seller

Questions about the Vinted algorithm

How does the Vinted algorithm work?

Vinted publishes the inputs and part of the order, and none of the arithmetic. One help page names every parameter its recommender systems use for the feed and for search, from time since upload and price through to the browsing history of the person looking, explains most of them in a line each, and then names which groups matter most. It states no weight for any single parameter. So the inputs are published, the priorities are published coarsely, and the way they combine is not.

What are the Vinted ranking factors?

Vinted's own key factors section gives four groups in order. First, the filters a member applies and the filters Vinted's system applies, such as limiting results to items available in that member's country. Promoted content, meaning new listings and paid Showcase and Bump placements, is named as also important. Next come item attractiveness criteria, which Vinted describes as “such as recency, the number of interactions, price, and condition”. Personalisation from past activity comes after that. There is no order inside any of the four groups, and Vinted says the priorities can vary depending on the use case.

Why are my items not being seen on Vinted?

The factor Vinted names as most important is not about your items at all. It is the filters the person looking applied, plus the filters Vinted's own system applies for country and availability. Several other named parameters describe that person too, including their history and who they follow, and those move without you touching anything. What is yours to change is a different question with a different answer, and Cavri has a separate page on it: how to sell more on Vinted.

Did Vinted change its algorithm in 2026?

Vinted publishes no version history for its ranking, so there is nothing to point at either way. The specific claim in circulation, that a 2026 update raised the weight given to seller trustworthiness, has no published update behind it that Cavri could find on 3 September 2026. Trustworthiness is not one of the parameters Vinted names, and Vinted has published no weights to raise.

Is there a best time to post on Vinted?

Nothing published supports one. Time of day appears nowhere in Vinted's parameter list, and none of the pages recommending seven in the evening on a Sunday shows a dataset. Time since upload is a named parameter, so a fresh listing is genuinely fresher than an old one, but that is about how recent it is rather than what hour it happened.

Does listing frequency mean I should relist every day?

Vinted explains this parameter, and the explanation does not read like an invitation: it applies when sellers upload a number of items within a specific timeframe, and Vinted says those items are shown to buyers in a proportionate way. Cavri paces itself accordingly. Queued jobs go one at a time, roughly a minute apart, with the gap varied rather than fixed, whether you queued the batch yourself or a rule did. What the rules may queue on their own has a ceiling on top of that: 20 actions a day to start with, anything from 1 to 500. A batch you pick yourself is capped by your plan's bulk limit instead.

Does Vinted shadowban sellers?

No such state appears in Vinted's published material. The nearest published thing is a parameter called illegal content, where Vinted says its own measures against illegal listings may affect the visibility of members' legitimate ones. That is an admission about enforcement rather than a penalty aimed at sellers. Cavri can neither confirm nor rule out anything here, because it measures completed sales rather than visibility.

Is the Star Wardrobe badge real?

Cavri could not confirm it. The rule that listing five items in thirty days earns a Star Wardrobe badge and extra visibility is repeated across social posts and reseller blogs, and searching Vinted's own help centre on 3 September 2026 found nothing describing it. Vinted's help does describe item verification and the Pro label, both of which are real and neither of which works like that. Until Vinted publishes a badge rule, Cavri treats it as folklore.
